Noida: Owner allows dog to bite boy to stop him from picking mango

An 11-year-old boy on Monday got severely bitten by a pet dog when he was picking a fallen mango near its owner’s house in Noida. The boy’s father alleged that the owner deliberately unleashed her dog to stop the boy from picking a mango.

Father of the victim, Jais Kumar, said that the lady was unapologetic and had no courtesy to take remedial measures once his son was bitten badly by her dog.

"The incident happened at around 7 am when my child went out of the house to play at the park of Sector-36 with other children of Nithari village,” said the father.

“But, when he was on his way back to home, he saw a mango lying on the gate of the woman’s house where she was also standing with her dog. When he tried to pick the mango, she opened the dog’s leash and the dog ran out and pounced on him. He received deep cuts in both the legs,” father said.

Kumar said that he immediately took his son to the District hospital where doctors provided initial treatment. Then, he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.

“I have spent more than Rs 8,000 in the treatment so far,” Kumar said.

Rajesh Tiwari, supervisor of the sector told City Spidey that he received a call around 9 am from the RWA president of the sector to look into the matter.

“After that call, I immediately reached the spot and talked to the woman. She told me that she opened the door when the boy was trying to pick a mango. The dog suddenly came out and bit the boy,” Tiwari said.

JP Uppal, president of RWA of Sector 36 said that he was in Allahabad and will come back on Wednesday. But, when he came to know about the incident, he talked to the RWA member to address the issue.

“An investigation will be conducted by the RWA body and we will take proper action if the woman will find guilty,” Uppal said.

Uppal also said that the RWA will also help the victim’s family and donate money to them.

When City Spidey tried to contact the dog owner, she did not open the gate of her house and was not ready to talk.

A police officer in Sector-39 police station told City Spidey that police registered an FIR against the unidentified dog owner under the IPC section 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal), 337(causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).

“Further investigations are still under process and police will able to speak more about the matter once it gets complete,” the officer added.
