Noida: 10-year-old girl found hanging; no clarity over cause of death yet

A 10-year-old girl was found hanging by window grill of her room in Sector-12 of Noida on Tuesday morning.

Some sources claimed that she had a small fight over the TV remove with her elder sister before the incident. Later, she allegedly went inside the room and hanged herself with a scarf.

However, police said that the girl died accidentally after her scarf got tangled in her neck when she was playing with her sister.
The exact cause of the suicide is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for post-mortem while no complaint has yet been registered.

Shreya (name changed), was a student of class V. The victim lived with her parents and an elder sister (12) at the ground floor of a three-storey building in A-block of Sector-12. Police informed that her parents were out on work when the incident took place.

Police said that victim’s grandmother, who lived on the top floor of the building, had come down for some work when she found Shreya hanging by the window grill.

“The woman raised an alarm and neighbours rushed to the spot. The victim was rushed to Metro Hospital where doctors declared her dead,” said police.

“According to the girl’s family, the incident took place at around 9 am when the two girls were playing and Shreya’s neck got tangled in the scarf. No FIR has been registered in the case as the family does not want any investigation,” said Rajiv Kumar Singh, circle officer, Noida 2.
