Dwarka’s Yash Apts shells out Rs 48,000 every month on water... why!

Yash Apartments in Sector 11, Dwarka, has had no water supply since long. It meets the requirements of 60 flats through water tankers and a borewell. Bitter and helpless, VK Swami, a resident, made an appeal to authorities like Delhi Jal Board, MLAs, MPs and other officials through a WhatsApp group, Dwarka City Solution, but there has been no response.

With hopes dashed, he lamented, “I sent the message, but there was no response from any of the officials or any public representative.”
He added, “No help has come from any corner. The society pays Rs 48,000 monthly to the water tankers from Delhi Jal Board. We can’t water our plants in the park! But there’s plenty of water supply in Sadbhavna Apartments, our neighbouring society and no water problem in nearby Ashoka Apartments as well. But our plot 9 always has had to face this challenge.”

City Spidey spoke to Devender Kumar, former member of the management.

He said, “Every day we buy water of two tankers, and shell out Rs 48,000 every month for the service. The state government had promised to give 20,000 litres of water every month to each family free of cost, and here we are!”

The society is located at a slightly higher elevation, hence pipeline infrastructure needed to be modified, but that too didn’t happen, rued residents.

“Before the election of municipal corporation last year, the area MLA with DJB officials and AAP candidate of the area inaugurated the laying of additional line. We were happy and hopeful, but that feeling soon disappeared. Now, nobody cares, and they can’t even bother to respond,” Kumar lashed out.
