Dayal said, “The Metro stations have been made in this section on the concept of Multi-Model Integration (MMI). This gives a metro user easy access to the Metro station. There are drop points where one can park the vehicle and approach the station on foot.”
“The bus stops are within 100 metres of the Metro stations. Not only this, the stations have been made in such a way that they give a facility to cross the road by taking an underground subway,” added Dayal.
Dayal informed that the metro services would be available from 6 am to 11 pm on weekdays while the service will start from 8 am on Sunday. On the frequency of the service, he said, “The frequency of Metro in this section is 5 to 6 minutes. This time, there are total 24 trains and in future, it can be increased. The frequency can also change as per the requirement.”
The Magenta line would give a relief to the students of various universities which are located on the route and to also those universities which could be accessed through the interchange. There are Universities such as Amity, Jamia Millia Islamia, IIT Delhi and JNU which falls on this section.
Also, the South Campus of Delhi University will be on the route. Besides all these institutions, students of other universities like IP University in Dwarka could use the Magenta line to save time.
“With the start of the Magenta section, a loop is created with the Blue Line which is of great importance as most of the part is on the outer ring road,” said Dayal.
The Janakpuri West Metro station on the Dwarka -Noida Metro corridor has also been converted into an interchange station to provide additional connectivity to areas in South Delhi and Noida from West Delhi.
The interchange station will be the first station of the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor of Phase 3 which will connect Line 3 with important locations such as the Terminal 1 of the IGI Airport, Munirka, Hauz Khas, Nehru Place and Botanical Garden in Noida.
The domestic terminals of the Indira Gandhi Airport are also going to get metro connectivity through the Magenta line. The presently operational Airport Express Link provides Metro connectivity to the new T3 terminal of the Airport from which all international carriers and all premium domestic airlines fly.
However, there is no Metro connectivity for the domestic terminals from which the low-cost operators fly.
The stations in the section would help the commuters from South Delhi to get direct connectivity from Kalkaji, Nehru Place, Hauz Khas, Munirka etc. Similarly, East Delhi passengers coming from Vaishali (Ghaziabad), Anand Vihar, Lakshmi Nagar etc. can take Line 3 and 4 and change at Janakpuri West.
