Garment trader robbed at gunpoint in Sector 18, Noida, this afternoon

In an alarming incident, a 27-year-old garment trader was today robbed in broad daylight in Sector 18, Noida. According to police, he had just withdrawn Rs 8 lakh from the sector's ICICI branch and was about to get into his car, when two bike-borne miscreants held him at gunpoint, snatched the bag of cash from him and fled the spot. The incident occurred around 12.15 pm and the victim has been identified as Durgesh Mishra, a resident of Mamura village in Noida.

Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of loot and robbery.

"We are looking at the CCTV footage recoevered from the area to identify the criminals. We have formed teams to nab them and we are certain they will be arrested soon," said Manish Saxena, station house officer (SHO) of the Noida Sector 20 police station.

However, this kind of shocking robbery in broad daylight, in what is considered Noida's biggest commercial hub, has understandably left the trader community sceptical about the area's security. They are blaming the police for lack of security and patrolling in the area.
