If things go according to plan, Hindon Elevated Road, the country's longest single-pillar elevated road will be inaugurated by CM Adityanath Yogi on March 30. One of the largest infrastructure projects of the city, it came at a whopping cost of Rs 1,148 crore. Once opened to public, the elevated road would reduce the distance between Delhi and parts of Ghaziabad to minutes from hours.
According to officials of the district administration, UP CM Yogi Adityanath may come to Ghaziabad on March 30 for the inauguration of the elevated road, along with several other infrastructure projects in the city.
This is the same elevated road which was forcibly opened by Samajwadi Party (SP) workers from Ghaziabad earlier this month. Party workers, including member of legislative council Rakesh Yadav, cut the red ribbon, calling the project a brainchild of the erstwhile SP-led state government.
An FIR was also lodged against SP workers by the Ghaziabad Development Authority and four party workers were arrested following the incident.
According to officials, the project is complete and is undergoing final touches. Currently, traffic signals are being installed at the Rajnagar extension end of the elevated road. Also, the incomplete construction of U-turn on the road leading to GT Road is yet to be completed.
Work on the country's longest elevated road was started in November 2014 and it was to be completed on April 29 last year. The completion date was extended till 31 October. It was again pushed to December 31. However, the final hurdle to the project’s completion was overcome, when it received its environmental clearance from the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) earlier in March this year.
Although the district administration is yet to confirm the CM’s visit and participation in the inauguration, BJP district leaders confirmed to City Spidey about the CM’s visit on March 30.
