At a meeting held at the Gurgaon Sector 34 office of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) yesterday, PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh directed MCG to penalise all contractors that did not finish projects on time. MCG was also directed to only give those projects a go-ahead that were cleared of all issues.
Singh told officials that if a contractor failed to complete a task on time, it would have to be penalised. "Officials have been directed to not allot any project if there is any possibility of a hindrance coming its way. They have been directed to allot projects only when all matters have been resolved,” Singh added.
Other topics discussed at the meeting were MCG’s water conservation projects, regularisation of illegal colonies and setting up of sewage treatment plants (STPs) in parks.
Singh told MCG officials to set up miniature STPs in parks to ensure these amenities didn't run out of supply.
He also got an update on the regularisation of 47 illegal colonies, a metter pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Officials informed him that the court had regularised 15 colonies and listed observations on 32 others. Singh also told officials to construct proper roads leading to cremation grounds in the city.
Yashpal Yadav, MCG commissioner, apprised Singh of the MCG's pond rejuvenation project for collecting rainwater and updated him on MCG's steps to check waterlogging during the monsoons, which included cleaning of stormwater drains and setting up of miniature STPs in waterlogging-prone areas.
