With the deadline approaching fast for the delivery of a significant proportion of flats in the city, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has pulled up nine builders for slow progress of their projects.
Officials confirmed, in a recent meeting, nine builders were directed to speed up construction and to make sure that the flats are delivered by March 31, the deadline.
Issues related to projects of 29 builders were raised in a meeting in August last year. The meeting was held between the ministerial committee set up by the UP government, Ghaziabad homebuyers, builders and GDA officials.
Later, in another meeting, Suresh Khanna, UP urban development minister — also a member of the ministerial committee — said GDA had earmarked 23,842 flats across Ghaziabad for delivery, and they would be delivered by the end of March, 2018. The minister had also threatened severe action against builders who failed to deliver on time.
The nine builders, who according to GDA officials are behind schedule, include KDP Infra Pvt Ltd, Raksha Vigyan Karmachari Sahkari Awas Samiti, Mahagun Real Estate, Uppal Chadda Hitech Developers, Agrawal Associates, Shipra Estate and Jai Kishan Estate Pvt Ltd, SVP Builders Pvt Ltd, Faind Land Developers Pvt Ltd and Dilli 99 (Sanjeev Arora and Co.).
According to officials, barring SVP Group, representatives of eight builders were present at the meeting.
Speaking to City Spidey, Dayanand Prasad, OSD of GDA, said, “The list of the nine builders was prepared by the enforcement teams of the various zones of the city after a survey. These builders were found to be lacking in working towards the commitments made in the ministerial committee meeting.”
On being asked about the status of the other 20 builders, who were hauled up in the August meeting, Prasad said, “Progress in other projects was found to be adequate. The other nine have been asked to deliver on time, failing which, they will draw action from the GDA. Some, like Shipra Estate, have confirmed that they will apply for completion certificates soon.”
Prasad also added that among other measures FIRs would be lodged against errant builders.
