Today Little Angles School in Sector 22, Noida, took the first step towards what can be called sex education in the school. It organised a workshop to help students distinguish between good and bad touch.
Some parents, too, attended the workshop.
Diksha Joshi, the school principal, said the workshop was held with the support of Sankalp India Charitable Trust, an organisation that works for the welfare of the girl child and education for economically underprivileged kids. Noida News
Shashi Chaudhary, a counsellor, gave a detailed talk on what sets a bad touch apart and how children to react to it. She urged the children to immediately report a bad touch to either their parents or teachers.
“Parents can educate their children about how to tell a bad touch from a good touch while giving them a bath,” said Chaudhury.
“If the child is aware of the nuances of a bad touch, he or she will be wary of potential molesters and be aware of the right ways to react,” said Rekha Sharma, president of Sankalp India Charitable Trust.
“We will conduct such workshops in 50 other schools. We want to make little girls aware of all the possible threats that they may encounter in their day-to-day life and equip them with simple strategies to counter unwanted advances."
