With union minister Rao Inderjit Singh inaugurating several community infrastructure projects in Gurgaon, the civic landscape is poised for a transformation. Recarpeted roads around Maruti Vihar in Sector 28, a new parking area and a park, an Ambedkar Bhawan and several community centres at Chakkarpur village are some of the things the city can look forward to.
The recarpeting of roads around Maruti Vihar, which will cost over Rs 40 lakh, will provide residents of Sushant Lok Phase I an alternative gateway to the MG Road Metro station. It will enable them to avoid traffic on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road. The roads from the area converge at the A-Block main road of Sushant Lok Phase I, which, in turn, exits towards the Metro station.
Now in the absence of a motorable road, commuters are avoiding the roads around Maruti Vihar. “The arterial roads around Maruti Vihar provide an alternative route to MG Road Metro station, as often the A Block main road is severely congested. I had been avoiding this stretch, as it was riddled with potholes and affected by waterlogging in the rainy season. But I could consider using this stretch once again after the recarpeting is done,” said Sanjay Bakshi, a resident of Sushant Lok Phase I.
According to officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), the cost of the projects will be met from the money allocated to MPs under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS). Gurgaon News
“Gurgaon is the highest revenue-collecting district in the state, and it is only apt that some funds are allocated towards the city’s development,” said Rao Inderjit Singh.
Apart from this, the union minister also inaugurated several under-construction projects being carried out by MCG at Rs 3.5 crore. These include a community centre, a park, a parking area, an Ambedkar Bhawan and a community chaupal at Chakkarpur village.
With the Chakkapur village sandwiched between the posh urban areas of Sushant Lok Phase I and DLF Phase 4, MCG has been attempting to integrate the urban and semi-urban population and upgrade facilities.
Over the past year, the civic authorities have built two waste compost plants in Gurgaon. Moreover, the country’s first camera museum is also under construction.
