In these days of smog and hazardous pollution levels, residents of Supertech Capetown, in Sector 74, have a dangerous issue on their hands. They are complaining about the height of a chimney installed in the society by the developer that emits generator smoke. They say the height of the chimney is lower than the surrounding buildings, and hence the smoke emitted is a danger to everyone in its vicinity. Many residents are even facing breathing problems, they say.
Towers CMC2 and CV3 are the worst affected, and residents are demanding that the height of the chimney be raised, or that it be removed from there altogether.
Bhupendra Routela, a resident of Supertech Capetown, told City Spidey that the issue was so bad that it was getting tough to live in either of these two towers. "We have spoken a number of times to the developer’s staff but they are not doing anything about it," he added.
Residents also said that they lodged a complaint with the UP government’s Jan Sunwai programme and that they will soon send a complaint letter to the regional manager of the UP Pollution Control Board (UPPCB).
“We are also planning to move National Green Tribunal [NGT] about the issue,” he added.
Rajesh Singh, Officer on Special Duty, Noida Authority, said that he would look into the issue and fine the builders if he found any truth to the complaint.
In November, air-pollution levels in Noida reached severe levels and residents of high-rise societies in sectors 74 to 77 filed a case at NGT against Noida Authority and UPPCB for not taking necessary steps to control pollution in the city.
