Nearly 10 hours have lapsed since six-year-old Rehan Gupta was kidnapped by two bike-borne assailants during early morning hours today near Dilshad Garden in East Delhi. But the police is yet to trace the kidnappers.
The assailants allegedly stopped the bus near Vivekanand School close to GTB Enclave and shot at the bus driver before fleeing with the boy.
The incident took place opposite to IBHAS Hospital in Shahadara. The bus was heading from Shahadara to Anand Vihar to drop the children at Vivekanand School.

Sudhir Kumar, who sells flower outside Sai Mandir, provided an eyewitness account of the events as they unfolded.
“I noticed two people driving a black-coloured bike. They stopped their bike in front of the bus and one of them went to the driver’s side, while the other one knocked at the door of the bus. Suddenly, there was a gunshot and the driver took a hit in his leg. Before anyone could even comprehend what was happening, they fled with a child,” he recounted.
Lalit Singh, a senior police official at GTB Enclave police station, told City Spidey that three special teams have been formed to speed up investigation. However, the investigative officer on the case, Narender Singh, confirmed to City Spidey, “Till now, we have made no arrests.”
The caretaker who travels with the bus, Roopa, was taken to the police station for interrogation. According to her father, Roopa was an employee of bus contractor and has been working with the bus from the last three years.
Police also called in Rupa’s husband, Sanju, for interrogation.
