To speed up vehicular movement at the Kherki Daula toll plaza, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened one lane on each side of the highway for FASTag vehicles. These lanes will automatically open the boom barriers after reading the FASTags.
Lane 17 (going towards Jaipur) and Lane 3 (coming from Jaipur) will currently work on the FASTag system. In case a car without a FASTag enters these lanes, there’s provision for exit.
At present, almost 2,000 cars are FASTagged.
"This is a great step — it will certainly help vehicles move faster. In times ahead, it's important to have such lanes, since new cars are coming with pre-installed tags," said Pradeep Kumar, who travels from Rewari to Gurgaon every day.
Speaking to City Spidey, Rajneesh Yadav, road safety officer, said, “We have done the testing, and now it needs to be seen how much difference these lanes will make to traffic management.”
