Water supply to remain affected today in parts of east and south Delhi

Water supply will remain affected today in several parts of east and south Delhi, as cleaning of the water treatment plants (WTP) at Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi is expected to continue till late night.

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had stopped supply in parts of east and south Delhi since Friday night. It informed today morning that owing to high levels of ammonia in untreated Yamuna water both the WTPs need to be cleaned and dried at least three times, and thus, returning to normal supply will take time. “It was assumed that after two rounds of cleaning, we would be able to start the water supply. But, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Our tankers — nearly 140 of them — are ferrying water round the clock to residential colonies. Around 90 complaints regarding water shortage have been received in the last two days. The DJB tankers are providing free water based on demand,” claimed a DJB official. Apartment management software
Areas such as Mayur Vihar I, Khirki Extension, Pandav Nagar, Shekh Sarai, Greater Kailash, Sarita Vihar, Pandav Nagar, Vinod Nagar and Laxmi Nagar have been facing water shortage since the last three days.
Charan Pal Singh, a resident of Pocket 4, Mayur Vihar Phase I, said, “Last night, water supply resumed for an hour, but pressure was extremely low. I have seen two DJB water tankers in last two days in my colony — but that's not enough to meet our demands.”
