GB Nagar: Almost 38,000 challans for two-wheelers alone in six months!

According to figures released by the Noida traffic department on Sunday, as many as 37,923 two-wheeler commuters have been fined for traffic violations to the tune of Rs 80,694 between January and June this year. Officials said the figure for the same period last year was 29,834.

According to the data, there were 35,934 violations by cars, and 1,921 by buses and trucks combined. Officials said that the rest of the 5,186 offences were committed by autorickshaws and other vehicles.
Of the two-wheeler offences, 16,725 were for not wearing helmets and 11,918 for speeding.
Traffic police said they were planning to instal cameras at major intersections to be able to track the registration numbers of violating vehicles. Challans are later sent to the addresses of the violators. Data is tracked on a daily basis. apartment management software
One such camera is already functional at the Sector 57 intersection. More will be set up at the intersections in sectors 25 and 31, officials said.
Superintendent of police (traffic), Anil Kumar Jha, said, “Traffic police have been strictly directed to keep a check on violations. The exercise is aimed at streamlining traffic on city roads. The data will help us recognise the nature of violations, so necessary steps can be taken.”
According to police data, about 400 people die in road accidents every year in the district, and 700 suffer injuries.
