With Noida sanitation workers on strike for more than two weeks and garbage piling up on roadsides, New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) today said it was considering imposing the Essential Services Maintenance Act, or ESMA, on them.
RK Mishra, additional chief executive officer (ACEO) of NOIDA, said the primary role of sanitation workers was to keep the city clean and to discharge the duties they were hired for, but they were now becoming an obstruction to the delivery of common services to residents. noida news
He warned them once the Act was enforced on those that had gone on strike and they didn’t resume duty, the authority would be forced to fire them, and under no circumstances would they be hired back. apartment management software
The authority has sought a list of sanitation workers on strike from contractors.
“The sanitation workers will also be booked if they try to cause damage to public property or disturb an employee from discharging his or her duty,” Mishra added.
The sanitation workers had gone on strike to demand that their contractual work be changed to a permanent one with NOIDA.
