Acting on the long-standing demand of residents to check air pollution in their area, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has started checking air quality in various parts of Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad.
UPPCB had installed an air monitoring unit at its regional office in Sector 16, Vasundhara, but many residents and RWA members pointed out that the area was comparatively less polluted than the other areas of Ghaziabad, aas the area saw a lot less vehicular traffic and was at a greater distance from industries in the city. Crossings Republik residents maintained that the township was one of the worst affected by air pollution due to the heavy traffic on NH 24 and industries along the highway. “We had, on several occasions, raised our demand for a study of the air quality in the area,” said Tarun Bharat Chauhan, president of Crossings Republik Owners and Members Association (CROMA).
“For now we have pinpointed a few locations in the township, such as the Crossings Republik roundabout, the Saviour Greenisle society and the Crossings glass gate, for checking air quality,” Chauhan added. apartment management system
Speaking to City Spidey, Ajay Sharma, regional officer of UPPCB, said that air quality monitoring was being conducted based on the complaints of RWAs. “Many RWAs complained about the air pollution due to the proximity of industries such as Continental Carbon near the township. The ambient air in areas pointed out by residents is being monitored with the help of high volume samplers, and the data will be used to assess the situation,” Sharma said.
“The factories have been closed for about four days now, but we have collected data before and after this, so both can be compared and the pollution caused due to industries can be assessed,” Sharma explained.
