Going by the account of Ashok Makkad, a passionate wildlife photographer in his late sixties, Dwarka could well be drawing the attention of the conservation world. In a recent chat with City Spidey, Makkad says that in his career spanning two decades he has photographed the rare Baya Weaver only now.
All the weekends in the past one month have translated to a delightful experience for Makkad as he has been photographing this rare bird species at Dwarka’s Sector 10.
In his words, “When I first read about the presence of these birds in Dwarka I could not contain my joy. I reached the spot with my photography ammunition within exactly two-and-half hours.”
Makkad is an engineer by profession but pursues photography as a passion. He shares he had always nurtured a dream — of watching Baya Weavers weaving nests. Makkad told City Spidey that he has never seen Baya Weavers in such huge numbers before in the Delhi-NCR. Dwarka News
“With my experience I can say that these birds are not common, and hence, the authorities should focus their attention on them. Media, too, needs to pay attention on the phenomenon of these birds populating Dwarka. Hence, I am grateful to City Spidey for making a beginning in this regard,” says Makkad.
In his message to the community and the authorities, Makkad appeals, “This is a good site for breeding of Baya birds. Both the community and authorities should make efforts to support this natural phenomena.”
