On Monday evening (August 21), two armed men entered True Friends Apartments, a society in Dwarka Sector 6, unleashing panic among residents. Fortunately, the police was able to nab one of the men, but the other managed to escape.
As the events unfolded, it became clear that the operation wouldn’t have been possible without the joint effort of the guards, the residents of the neighbouring Kamakshi Apartments and, of course, the fast-footed police. Dwarka News
One of the guards at the gate, Shubham Singh, in his early twenties, just started his career a couple of months back. And nothing could have prepared him for the events of that day. Though not trained, he used his presence of mind to inform all the residents through the wireless to close their doors as soon as the miscreants entered the society after threatening the two guards at the gate. Singh recounts, “I was on duty, and I did what I thought best. At first, I informed all the residents that two miscreants had entered the society. Then I went in their direction. One of the miscreants was trying to scale the wall of the society. I was trying to pull him down by his leg, but he escaped to the adjacent society, Kamakshi Apartments, from where he finally fled. I then turned my attention to the other miscreant, who was still in the society. I found him, but he had his gun pointed at me. At this point, I didn’t resist. But thankfully, the police arrived.”

Residents of Kamakshi Apartments, too, played a major part in the operation. They kept an eye out for the armed man still roaming True Friends Apartments.
One of the residents, who helped the police from his sixth-floor balcony, said, “We saw this man go up, and then he came down — we kept screaming his locations. Finally, we located him on a balcony of Block D, and the police nabbed him from there. We felt good that our joint efforts led to the capture of the armed miscreant. ” Dwarka Local News
The management of Kamakshi Apartments asked the police to search their premises to ensure that the other miscreant who had scaled the wall into their society was no longer there. The police was provided with the CCTV footage of the premises. Apartment management software
Treasurer of Kamakshi Apartments, SK Jain, said, “The police ensured that the miscreant was not on the premises. But there’s a lesson we learnt from the entire episode — we shouldn’t park our cars close to the boundary wall. One of them could escape because he could use the cars to scale the boundary. We’ll certainly be discussing the matter with the management.”Apartment management system
