Time to shape up Noida! Five open gyms were launched by Noida Authority this Saturday.
An official of Noida Authority confirmed, “Each gym will have 17 machines.”
The gyms are located in Block C park of Sector 33; Block B park of Sector 34; Block P park of Sector 35; Block D park of Sector 39; and B Block park of Sector 52.
Omvir Singh, director of horticulture, Noida Authority, told City Spidey, “Only finishing work is left — but things will be wrapped up soon. The gyms should, hopefully, open up for the residents by this week.”
The equipment includes air walkers, sit-up benches, air swings, stair steppers, leg presses, pull-up chairs, exercise bars, chest presses, bench presses, cross-walkers, twisters and rowing machines.
The machines are weather-proof and clamped onto concrete slabs across rubberised tiles.
“The sector RWAs will be responsible for the maintenance. Instructions on how to use the equipment will be found on the machines in both English and Hindi,” Singh explained.
Residents have welcomed the initiative.
“This is a great initiative — fantastic to have a gym in the park,” exclaimed Vipul Gupta, a resident of Sector 34.
Earlier, Noida Authority had started three open gyms in October 2016 in sectors 50, 108 and 36. It is planning to launch 18 more such gyms across the city.
