Amrapali Group CEO and director arrested

The district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar on Monday arrested the CEO and director of Amrapali Group for failing to pay Rs 4.29 crore labour cess for the past three years. The police arrested CEO Ritik Kumar Sinha and director Nishant Mukul, and sealed the Amrapali head office in Sector 62, Noida.


Both the Amrapali officials have been kept in the custody of the tehsil lockup for 14 days.
Amit Kumar, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Gautam Budh Nagar, told City Spidey that the action on the real estate giant was taken under Section 171 of the Land Revenue Act (Section 171 says that any person defaulting on payment of an arrear of land revenue maybe arrested and detained in custody in the tehsil lockup till the dues are paid but period should not exceed 14 days).  Noida Local News
"The company had dues to the tune of Rs 1.75 crore in 2014. However, when they failed to pay, a penal interest amounting to Rs 83 lakh was imposed, besides a penalty of Rs 1.72 crore," he added.
BN Singh, district magistrate of GB Nagar, told City Spidey that a final recovery notice was issued on June 5, but the builder failed to pay up.
City Spidey tried to discuss the matter with the officials of Amrapali Group, but no one was willing to speak on the matter. Noida News
An official of the administration said the district department of Noida had also issued a notice in this regard to seven other builders as well. “Representatives of other builders may also be arrested in the coming days,” the official added. Apartment Management System
The arrests came a day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's instructions of strict action against builders failing to clear their dues.
The CM said that they were serious about the issues with builders and had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against erring builders.
