This Noida sector needs to have streetlights. Residents are at risk!

Numerous follow-ups by residents on the lack of streetlights in Sector 137 have finally woken up Noida Authority from its slumber. The Authority has promised to instal streetlights along the sector's roads soon. The move is expected to deter the rising crime rate in the area.

SK Gupta, project engineer of Noida Authority, said, "We are in the process of entering into an agreement with a private contractor, who will carry out the work. It will take about three months to complete the work."

Pramod Singh Taragi, a resident of Exotica Fresco, one of the societies in the sector, had lodged a complaint with the Authority that a roundabout next to the society had become a scene of several petty crimes.

Nandani Srivastava, who resides in Paramount Floraville of the same sector, pointed out that earlier, these crimes were taking place near the office of a private television channel in Sector 85. "Over the past few months, cases of chain-snatching and robbery have been reported from the sector's residential area."
