Now, a Facebook page to address garbage woes in Ghaziabad

In order to connect better with residents over garbage woes, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is set to respond to problems related to cleanliness and collection of garbage in the city via Facebook.

The step has been taken by Chandrasekhar Singh, the newly appointed municipal commissioner who replaced Abdul Samad. The municipality has already been taking complaints via its toll free number and its online portal.

Singh directed the municipality’s IT team to set up a Facebook page of the corporation. Residents of the city can now post pictures of garbage on the page along with the location. The complaint will then followed up by the municipality officials. Apart from the Facebook page residents can also complain on 18001803012 and www.gnnpgrs.com.
However, residents of the city are skeptic of the initiative. Speaking to City Spidey, Sanjeev Goyal, a resident of Vasundhara, said that the corporation had also launched a Whatsapp contact number for residents, which failed to live up to its mark.

“Only finding new ways of communication won’t solve the problem. The corporation will have to work out a proper plan. Hope things will change with the new commissioner. Garbage has been a major problem in the city,” Goyal added.
