Residents of twin cities Noida and Greater Noida are elated as the ministry of civil aviation, government of India, on Saturday, finally gave a green signal to the proposal of setting up an international airport in Jewar, in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. They said that they would now no longer have to travel several kilometres to reach IGI Airport in Delhi.
Mohan Singh, a resident of Noi da, said not only do they have to commute several kilome tres to reach the present airport but also get stuck in the traffic snarls for hours. But the forthcoming airport will solve the problem. He said, “The new airport will be a boon for residents of GB Nagar." noida local news
Expected to be ready in the next seven years, the Jewar Inter national Airport will be devel oped over an area of 3,000 hectares earmarked by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. It will cater to about 35 million passengers.
Welcoming the move, local MLA of Noida, Pankaj Singh, said the development of an airpor t here was a great step. He said, “It will be convenient for residen ts and it will open doors for investors to come and set up business in the district.”
