This is what Mayfield Garden spends Rs 20,000 on every month

You gotta do what you gotta do. So if the builder refuses to build a park, get one built yourself. The RWA and residents of Gurugram’s Mayfield Garden (Block N) in Sector 51 have turned an acre of land into a beautiful park.

The 10-year-old township, spread across 327 acres, has been deprived of basic amenities due to a conflict between five builders.
“We had no place for the kids to play in. Now with this park, there’s a place for residents to sit and relax — the kids, too, have a place to play in. Greenery and colourful flowers give a lot of positive energy,” said Ritu Sharma, a resident.
The RWA initially spent more than Rs 4 lakh to get the whole thing going, installing swings for kids and benches for senior residents. Now more than Rs 20,000 is spent on monthly maintenance.
Cdr (Retd) Dharam Vir Yadav, former RWA president, told City Spidey, “It is such a huge township — there should at least be one park for residents here. We could no longer rely on the builder, so we took on the onus on ourselves.”
Residents allege that they bought homes in the area as it was well connected to all major destinations in the city via Sohna Road, Golf Course Extension Road and HUDA Metro station. Hospitals, such as Artemis and Medanta, several good schools and malls were within reach too. But residents lament that all of this comes to naught if even basic infrastructural needs are not met within the premises.
