Gurgaon News- Why residents of Gurgaon’s Valley View Estate are scared to step out

More than 2,000 residents of Valley View Estate, on Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, are finding it tough to even enter and exit their condominium.
There are no speed breakers in front of the condominium, and traffic snarls during morning and evening office hours make even cross the road difficult.
Thousands of motorists coming from and going towards Faridabad use the stretch, as it extends to south Gurgaon, Manesar, Sohna Road and NH 8.
The residents alleged that the road, which has heavy traffic flow, remains completely dark throughout the night. In the absence of traffic lights and police checks, commuters do not hesitate to drive on the wrong side of the road.
There is also a rise in the number of people living along the road, as new sectors are being developed on the stretch.

There’s yet another problem, as several school buses move on this road, picking up and dropping children, pedestrian movement is severely hampered.
“At times, we have to keep waiting for more than 20 minutes, as the traffic is just unending. At night, heavy vehicles move at a very high speed on this stretch, making it very risky for us,” said a resident, Ajay Pandita.
Residents have been demanding widening of the road at the earliest. They also want a traffic signal to be installed on the main road, so commuters know when to stop while crossing the area.
Shalini Satija, a daily commuter to Faridabad, complained, “It gets really dangerous here. Blind cuts and lack of proper lighting are responsible for the high number of accidents on the stretch.”
“We have been writing to the authorities for more than a year now, but no action has been taken so far,” said Col (Retired) SS Sharma, RWA president.
