Following repeated pleas from residents of Crossings Republik, Atul Garg, minister of state, UP, recently wrote to the district administration of Ghaziabad to provide 4,148 sqm of land for an independent fire station in the area.
The matter has been forwarded by the district administration to the Ghaziabad Minicipal Corporation and Ghaziabad Development Authority.
The move came after, Kuldeep Dubey, a resident of Supertech Livingston, raised the issue with the minister. Dubey had also approached the district administration of Ghaziabad with a request to post a fire tender on standby at Crossings Republik till the fire station was constructed. Following his request, the district administration forwarded the request to the fire department. However, the fire department rejected the request citing insufficient manpower.
The fire department said that the current manpower and equipment were sufficient only for the fire stations at Kotwali, Hindon, Vaishali and Modinagar while another unit was already posted on standby in Loni. The department also said that in case of a fire incident in Crossings Republik, fire engines would be sent from nearby fire stations. It acknowledged the requirement of an independent fire station in the area.
In December last year, residents had filed a PIL under the aegis of Federation of AOA at the Allahabad High Court. The matter is sub judice. The delay in conclusion of the matter has added to the anguish of over twenty five thousand families residing in the area, who are knocking all doors to get the issue solved.
